U.S. beef and pork exports face a grind of limited credit availability, volatile currency exchange rates and global economic uncertainty in many foreign markets for the remainder of the year, said the U.S. Meat Export Federation.

Genco Shipping & Trading Ltd. said it has reached agreement to cancel the previously announced acquisition of six drybulk newbuildings from Lambert Navigation Ltd., Northville Navigation Ltd., Providence Navigation Ltd., and Prime Bulk Navigation Ltd., with an aggregate purchase price of $530 million.

Panalpina, the global freight transport and logistics group, said it had consolidated net earnings of 105 million Swiss francs ($91 million) in the first nine months of the year, 34 percent less than in the same 2007 period.

Agricultural and shipping company Seaboard Corp. said its marine segment had lower operating income despite an increase in sales, primarily because of higher fuel prices.
